REGULATIONS

    1. Urunday Foundation together with The Government of the Province of Chaco, set up as the Organizing Committee, will carry out the “Biennial International Sculpture Contest” to be held from July 19th to July 26th, 2008, in Resistencia, Chaco, Argentina.

    2. The ten (10) artists selected to compete should have been awarded prizes during either regional, national, or international sculpture contests or similar events.

    3. The sculptors should be in Resistencia by July 17th 2008.

    4. The prizes to be awarded to the winners are the following:

         First Prize is U$D 10.000.- (ten thousand USA Dollars)
         Fondo Nacional de las Artes` Prize (National Fund for the Arts):
         Sculptors` Prize:
         Children’s Prize:
         The Public’s Prize:

    5. Artists will receive U$D 3,000.- (three thousand USA Dollars), a medal and a certificate as well.

    6. Other institutions will be able to award special prizes, which will be made known to the participants before the opening of the contest.

    7. The works will be on public display for sixty days, and after this period, they will be set up throughout the city as cultural patrimony of the “City of Sculptures”.

    8. The Jury will be made up of three (3) members appointed by the Organizing Committee, and they will accomplish their duty calling on the places assigned to each artist, whenever they consider it suitable.

    9. Their verdict will be recorded on a formal statement. No member can refrain from voting at any time, and their verdict will be final.

    10. The works will have to fulfill the following specifications:

         a. Theme: The Ten Commandments
         b. The sculptures should be original and not hitherto known.
         c. The sculptures should be made from one wood log having 400 cm to 50 cm that can be cut in two           lengthwise parts. Three metal pipes of 6 meters and 2-3 inches could be added too.
         d. 220 v energy sources will be provided for the electrical tools (that the sculptors should bring).
         e. Artists will also have a temp assistant, as well as 5 big chain-saws.

    11. The sculptors should send the application form and the drafting with four (4) views of the mock-ups, (with their corresponding bases in case of being necessary.), The due date for this is December 30th, 2007. They should also take security precautions, since once on exhibition, sculptures will be within the reach of the public. The drawings will be printed in the catalogue.

    12. The sculptors to work in the open and under any weather conditions. The timetable for working will go by according to the program of the contest. Once the established contest time is over the sculptors will not be allowed to go on working.

    13. It is compulsory for the participants to stay at their assigned spots until the last day of the contest, even if they have finished their sculptures before that day. It is also compulsory to attend the closing ceremony when prizes are awarded.

    14. The participants should also attend all the events programmed by the organizers.

    15. Accommodation (double-occupancy ) and meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) expenses -with the exception of extra ones such as telephone, drinks, etc.- for either contesting or invited sculptors, will be at the Organizing Committee’ expense, from 6 p.m. the day before the opening of the contest until 10 a.m. of the day after its closing time.

    16. The Organizing Committee will grant each sculptor-participant a trip to Iguazú Waterfalls. The tour will include tickets, double-occupancy accommodation , and meals. The day of departure will be on 27th July 2008, and the check- out date will be 28th July, 2008.

    17. Each participant should have Medical Assistance Insurance. Otherwise, and in case of any health problem, the emerging charges will be at the participant own expense.

    18. The Organizing Committee reserves to itself all the rights on video-tapes recorded and photographs taken during the contest. The only advertising that will be allowed at the working sites has to necessarily comply with the standards set by the Organizing Committee.

    19. In case of non-fulfillment of any of the items of the current regulations, the Organizing Committee reserves the right for either accepting or rejecting the Participant.

    20. Any other circumstances not considered in these regulations will be settled by the Organizing Committee. .
